Worth the Click + Watch 📺

Recent things worth clicking on—including “recovering minimalists”; a soon to livestream Broadway play— and one of the best crime shows worth streaming! (May 22nd edition)

Here’s a new round of Worth the Click (from AI is a shitshow to Sámi art in limbo) and an added Worth the Watch (2 shows I rewatched in anticipation for the new seasons).

Worth The Click

I hope they do this with more plays!

“In a historic move for both Broadway and the larger television industry, a live performance of George Clooney's record-shattering Broadway play Good Night, and Good Luck will be broadcast on CNN this coming June.” George Clooney's New Broadway Play Will Air on TV During Live Performance

Has anyone checked in on tiny home owners?

“There is nothing wrong with living with less, and consuming more consciously is better for the Earth. But as certain minimalist tempers make their way back into popular culture, it’s worth questioning whether life as a more thoughtful consumer has to look like an empty room.” Three Recovering Minimalists on How They Got Their Style Back

I do wish there were more photos in the article.

“Thousands of Sámi works of art purchased with Norwegian government funds are still languishing in storage in the basement of a museum of Sámi cultural history in Karasjok, northern Norway, awaiting exhibition in a purpose-built art museum.” Sámi art has gained visibility in Norway—but when will it get a museum of its own?”

I will read anything Hanif Abdurraqib ever writes.

“Language fails at the feet of an empire’s violence; language fails to scale the ever-growing wall between who is and isn’t deemed worthy of a life. Yet I am trying to use this same failing machinery to communicate how, for the sake of my own fragile heart, and sometimes fragile brain, I remain more committed to honesty than I do to optimism.” In Defense of Despair

Feels like living in a satire.

Seth Meyers saying that definitely sounds like a made up story

“Social media posts began to circulate on Tuesday criticizing the paper for allegedly using the AI software ChatGPT to generate an article with book recommendations for the upcoming summer season called “Summer reading list for 2025”. As such chatbots are known to make up information, a phenomenon often referred to as “AI hallucination”, the article contains several fake titles attached to real authors.” Chicago Sun-Times confirms AI was used to create reading list of books that don’t exist

Worth the (Re)Watch

Poker Face Charlie saying so what are you a cop

I come across a lot of entertainment that is at best mediocre which truly makes a show like Poker Face feel like an absolute treat. The creator, writers, and directors clearly understand the genre, and its history, and the show feels like a love letter to shows like Columbo, while being new and fun. Charlie Cale (Natasha Lyonne) can’t explain it but she just knows when someone is lying, like a tingle in her brain saying “bullshit”. This would seem like an asset but of course it gets her into trouble, and without spoiling anything, she ends up on the run. And wouldn’t you know it, that “bullshit detector” does come in handy whenever a complicated murder needs solving. It’s not a whodunit but rather the audience knows what happened (at least part of it) and you get to watch as Charlie has to put it all together and outwit the criminal(s). The humor is on point and it's a joy to see who the guest stars will be in each new episode. Season 2 started with a hell of a bang as Cynthia Erivo plays quintuplets, one of whom kills one of her twins…

The first season has 10 episodes and the 2nd season has aired 4 episodes and is dropping 1 new one every Thursday.

Ginny & Georgia it's you and me against the world

Gilmore Girls but criminal. Georgia had Ginny when she was 15 and now Ginny is 15. And Georgia has once again moved Ginny, and her other child Austin, to a new place. Except Ginny makes friends for the first time in her life and Georgia actually starts to put down roots. That is until a PI shows up because the ex-wife of Georgia’s dead husband thinks she murdered him. Georgia spent her life burying her trauma to give her kids the best life—she’s a force to reckon with who can charm anyone—and now everyone is having to deal with that. The show is a dramedy, with plenty of laughs, that also brings in tension and twists and knows how to hook you. The entire cast is great, and Brianne Howey who plays Georgia has the Julia Roberts magic. I will be starting the new season the second it drops!

There are currently two seasons and the third season will drop on June 5th.
