Mister Rogers will get a Youtube channel, Ronan Farrow comes for OpenAI, a great crime show, books I’ve acquired, and many more things to know! (April 9th edition)

It’s time for another round of things on my recent radar that I think are worth sharing! Once again there’s a wide range of interesting things and of course there’s books.

I will be testing this out this weekend (hope I don’t burn a pot)

What we absolutely need

The Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood will have its own dedicated YouTube channel. From Deadline: ā€œThe channel will include full-length episodes and a collection of repurposed digital-first content, including clips, shorts and compilations.ā€

Do this across the country

Watch a Tony Award winning Musical on Netflix

The Broadway revival of Merrily We Roll Along– starring Lindsay Mendez, Daniel Radcliffe, Jonathan Groff— now has a filmed version that you can stream on Netflix. May they do this with so many more performing arts productions.

Great conversation

Suleika Jaouad was in conversation with Monica Lewinsky on Reclaiming with Monica Lewinsky and I highly recommend listening to the episode: Suleika Jaouad on Survival as a Creative Act.

You don’t need to know who Jaouad is to appreciate the wide range of things discussed, all of which have a deep spirit of curiosity, need for creativity, connection, resilience, and an undercurrent of hope. You can find the podcast on all podcast apps or you can watch it on Youtube now that everyone is filming their podcasts.

Elizabeth Acevedo has a book coming this year

This is now officially my most anticipated book this year: Anger Is Only a Shadow by Elizabeth Acevedo

film poster for Thelma (2024)

This is a fun, ultimately feel-good film with a big heart that focuses on ageism, generation gap, and families struggling with the line of elderly members losing independence. The adventure for Thelma, in her ā€˜90s, begins when she’s scammed out of $10,000 and ultimately steals a motorized scooter hell-bent on getting her money back.

series poster for Task on HBO Max

I bail on so many crime shows that have nothing more than a hook so I was pleasantly surprised that every single character in this show is fully fleshed out with their own needs, wants, and life separate from all the other characters even though all their lives intersect. It’s a well written crime show that follows law enforcement (a task force just put together) and the people robbing criminals (revenge!), along with everyone that gets caught in the cross-fire. Bonus points for understanding pacing!
