A roundup of recent interesting things including stop motion, how soy sauce is made, removing AI from Pinterest, what to watch, and more! (October 23rd edition)
Since I have yet to be able to sit down and watch the new season of The Diplomat Iâve been tiptoeing on the internet to hopefully not see any spoilers. But, fear not, Iâve still managed to find tons of interesting things to share, including fun Halloween inspired stop motion, how to turn off AI results on Pinterest, a new doc, a new crime show, and a 2009 show totally worth a rewatch!

People are so creative!
The English family account @allthatisshe makes fun stop motion videos, and my favorite part is that it always starts with a bit of how itâs made. The latest is perfectly themed for October: you can watch it on Instagram or TikTok.
How to remove AI images from your Pinterest feed
It was bad enough to be dealing with enshittification but now we get the added layer of AI being forced down our throats. If you want to stop getting so many AI image results on Pinterest you can now change your settings. You can watch the above Youtube videos or if you just need the quick instructions: in your account go to settings > refine your recommendations > genAI interests (far right on center row) > toggle all options off.
I highly recommend following poets
Saeed Jones wrote about what his reactions to the announcements of Diane Keaton and Miss Major Griffin-Gracyâs deaths say about the world we live in: âAnd then it came, the realization thatâat least in my mindâ79 years old was so young for a famous rich white woman in America and that 78 years old was practically a miracle for someone like Miss Major.â (Diane Keaton, Miss Major, D'AngeloâŠ)
If youâve ever wondered how Japanese soy sauce is made
I will watch a video of how anything is made and this Instagram video on Japanese soy sauce was really interesting, especially since I had never thought about how soy sauce is actually made.
More food porn
I havenât had the time nor brain bandwidth to try this but I wanted to eat my phone while watching the video for these Pumpkin Lasagna Roll-Ups. The recipe is also up on Bon AppĂ©tit.

To All The Boys Iâve Loved Before gets a new format
Jenny Hanâs To All The Boys Iâve Loved Before already has a super popular Netflix adaptation film series, plus a spinoff series, XO, Kitty. And in 2026 we get a new adaptation in the form of a graphic novel! It has yet to get a cover reveal but Simon & Schuster has some deets on the bookâs page, including that itâs adapted by Barbara Perez Marquez and illustrated by Akimaro and Li Lu.
Super excited for this sequel
Netflix has some fantastic animated films like Nimona, Klaus, and The Mitchells vs. the Machinesâand the latter is getting a sequel! âSony Pictures Animation is making a sequel to its 2021 Oscar-nominated feature âThe Mitchells vs. the Machines,â with Guillermo Martinez (head of story for the first âMitchellsâ film) and JP Sans (co-director of âThe Bad Guys 2â) signing on to direct, marking Martinezâs directorial debut. Production is expected to begin in early 2026.â Variety has the exclusive news, âThe Mitchells vs. the Machines 2â in the Works, From Netflix and Sony Animation

FXâs The Lowdown
FX has made a lot of good shows so I would have watched this eventually but hearing that Sterlin Harjo, the creator of Reservations Dogs (Hulu), was behind this series bumped this to the top of my watch list. And the show is very much in my wheelhouse as itâs not only a crime show with the âreporterâ determined to get to the truth regardless of the danger they're in but itâs also super bookish. Ethan Hawke plays Lee Raybon: he calls himself a "truthstorian" and starts digging for information where he shouldnât after an exposĂ© he wrote about a powerful family puts a target on his back and one family member suspiciously dies by suicide. If you perked up at my mention of the show being bookish, Lee owns and lives above a bookstore, and a collection of books from an estate sale play a significant role in the plot.

Netflixâs The Perfect Neighbor
This is an excellent documentary that is a devastating example of why racism is not âan opinionâ. The documentary is told through body cam footage, police interview recordings, and courtroom cameras. It shows a neighborhood where children were growing up together and spent a lot of time playing outside and how one neighbor repeatedly harassed the childrenâincluding using slurs and throwing things at themâand continuously called the police because the children were outside playing. Itâs the kind of situation that from the beginning you realize it canât end well and still itâs shocking to see the escalation of hatred result in a motherâs murder. This doc could have been made a lot of ways but itâs most impactful to see it through a year of body cam footage which spotlights one personâs hatred against a community of families who had clearly bonded as their children formed friendships.

I did not realize that Parks and Rec was already more than 15 years old! To be honest, while looking for my next rewatch I didnât think this one would stick because itâs set in government, and in the current landscape that seemed like a bad setting for an escape watch. I was wrong! It turns out that Leslieâs deep and unending love for her town, friends, and government is exactly what I needed to watch in 2025. I think I even enjoyed the show more this time than my first time watching it.
Thanks for reading, and as always feel free to shout out anything youâve been loving lately!
